A thought on Batman

Before he performs his heroic deeds, Batman stands with his head bowed at the edge of a building, any building, as if conceding defeat before his inevitable victory in the alley below.  An eternally unconquerable loneliness.  That is what we see in Batman, not man masking his identity to the outside, but a figure draped in his true self, hoping that some good can come from such sadness.

I Resist

Here are some things that I resist or avoid.

Reality Television
I seem to remember as a kid thinking that this could be really cool, real people's reactions to real situations.  But somehow it seems that the folks running these programs decided to make them both boring and low grade.

Tunnel Singing
For everyone not at the university I'm attending (Ginevra), it's when a load of people go to this short, wide tunnel and sing hymns together, which sounds adorable, but in actuality reminds one of a mob that instead of lynching people, is content to be a stationary entity and sing hymns.  So not that bad, but not for me.

Clapping when someone drops dishes and makes a noise in a public place
Seriously, how is that okay.

Low-Brow Comedies
For example Billy Madison or Meet The Spartans or other stuff like that.  I've seen Disaster Movie, and it is the worst movie I've ever seen in terms of quality and overall enjoyment.

Saying "I love you," flippantly
I got a text from someone who said I love you sort of casually/jokingly, and I did not reply with that set of words, simply because it would've felt weird since although the term's been bastardized, that's a pretty strong emotion reserved for people that are close to you (this is my opinion), not as a "thank you" for recommending a therapist for your jack russell terrier.

Today's radio hits
For the most part anyways.  One exception would be Gotye's single "Somebody that I used to know," which I find undeniably catchy and some of the lyrics are pretty well written.  And listen to the way he delivers "and that feels so rough."

This Man

"I would be happy just to have you here,
We don't need plans at all
We don't need painted walls." -Jack Conte

Jack Conte is the coolest.  I want to be like him.
